New Atmospheric Water Generator Can Save Millions of Lives

Spout Atmospheric Water Generator

This new countertop atmospheric water generator is being called the most revolutionary invention of drinking water since the tap. Spout is a plug-in countertop device that can produce 2.5 gallons of pure drinking water a day from thin air.

How Does Spout Work?

The device produces water by using clay to absorb water from the air, then baking it using a 1000-degree Fahrenheit heating coil. The heat produces water vapour which is then condensed, filtered, and submerged in minerals to alkalize the water. This boosts pH levels in the 7-9 range. That fresh alkalized water is then delivered to the seamless countertop pitcher.

The Benefits of Atmospheric Water Generators

For those unsure about the safety of their drinking water, the Spout atmospheric water generator presents itself as a strong alternative to conventional water filters such as reverse osmosis systems. These filters need to be installed, are hard to move, and can be expensive.

Many water treatment systems around the globe are not equipped for filtering pharmaceuticals; in fact, more than 85 man-made chemicals were found in the water of municipalities throughout America including steroids and birth control.

While Spout’s ability to produce water depends on humidity levels, according to the developers, 80% of households worldwide exist in a climate humid enough for Spout to create water from the air.

Spout Atmospheric Water Generator Release Date and Price

Spout is currently taking pre-orders and will begin shipping out in 2024. The price of the countertop device is $599. The price of reserving an order is 99$, and the remaining $500 is paid when the device is shipped out.

The price was cut down from $799 and Spout has confirmed that it will raise the price soon.

From Air to Water: This Was a Long Time Coming

The needs of households are not the only thing that the company hopes to address. According to business media brand Fast Company, Co-founder Rueben Vollmer has stated that the company is currently working towards meeting the needs of water at a larger scale, specifically in agriculture. Up to 90% of the freshwater used globally is used for agriculture.

Reuben first got the idea for this technology when he noticed how dew collects on grass. He then took the initiative of founding Dew Good back in 2014.

Even though Dew Good could not be successfully launched at the time, it sparked an interest amongst people who had difficulty accessing water across the globe, many of whom contacted Vollmer.

“I was getting messages from Spain, from Portugal, from Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Japan—all over the world,” Vollmer says. “People were saying, ‘Hey, we don’t have water . . . can we please get your machine?’ And so, I saw that there was an intense global need for the technology.”

That’s when he realized the huge global need for a seamless air-to-water generator.

Approximately 3,575,000 deaths happen a year as a result of unclean water.

With a countertop device that requires little less than a wall outlet to produce pure and clean water where it is needed, innovations like the Spout atmospheric water generator have the potential to save millions of lives and create a brighter more sustainable future for us all.

IC Inspiration

It’s amazing to think that all this started because co-founder Rueben Vollmer saw dew drops on grass. The most incredible thing about inspiration is that it can come from anywhere and at any time, and that inspiration can go on to change the entire world.

As a child, I always wondered why this technologically advanced world is facing water scarcity, if we are already aware of how condensation works.

Fast forward 20 years into an era where we now have flying cars, and here I am, enamoured by this newly introduced Atmospheric Water Generator from Spout.

In my childhood in India, I vividly recall the routine of waiting for scheduled fresh tap water, anxiously ensuring our water bottles were filled during those precious moments. Unfortunately, this struggle continues today, with countless people relying on water tankers, and experiencing days-long waits for their only water source.

Consider for a moment that we live on a planet that is about 70% water, but less than 3% is consumable. Of that 3%, only half is accessible to a population of 8 billion people as the rest lies frozen in glaciers or hidden in the ground.

For those facing the anguish of water scarcity, the motivational technology used in Spout can create a future with incredible potential to help save the lives of millions who may one day never again go thirsty again.

If that’s not worthy of an inspiring click, then I don’t know what is!
